De La Gare Chez Sandro

A group of 7-9 of us came here following the visitation for a beloved family member who had died that morning. We were feeling terribly emotional and depressed, but dining here lifted our spirits for a little while. Although we did not have reservations, it...was early for dinner by European standards on a weekday. Most of us ordered the meat-stuffed raviolis in a cream sauce, and they were outstanding. If you order them, save the bread to mop up the remains of the sauce, because it is heavenly. The waiter suggested a wine that complimented the dinners so beautifully that we asked him to write down which wine he had chosen. The first time I ate here was decades ago, when it was the reception...

this restaurant is a jewel. the vater sandro bought the restaurant a few years ago and his son federico (who worked in the boca in Saint-Blaise) over several years. that is the best Italian restaurant in the canton of Neuchâtel. the homemade fresh pastas are exalted (also Italians travel to le locle to eat their pasta.) try the frog legs (best in Swiss,) fresh mushrooms if available (like porcini or chanterelles,) the bark with olive is excellent, the sole meunière delicious, and the house made desserts are simply perfect. excellent wine list (they have a nice cellar,) and friendly but efficient service.

We didn't know where to eat, but a really nice local woman told us to come here, and she was right ! This was one of the best pastas I've ever eaten (and part of my family is Italian, so I don't say it lightly! ....It is a really nice restaurant, the wine and the food is great, the waiters are really nice and the Chef is very attentive to the customers. It is not a cheap restaurant, but the prices are really fair for a good swiss restaurant.

we were about the weekend in le locle on a bike holiday and chose chez sandro due to a good rating, but had not read the reviews. we were very pleasantly surprised and had not expected such a great restaurant in the village. really excellent eating. we had the gourmet menu and enjoyed a very fine scampi starter followed by a beautiful bark meat. service and wine list also excellent.

Delicious food and amazing service. The sommelier is a star. Every time we eat here we think it's better than before a true delight!
