It's been some years since my last "foodie" group outing in Brisbane, and the scene here has changed somewhat with more variety and budget options. My friend's had choosen Detour as our venue. Not sure what category it actually classify as, but to me it feeds like a hipster bar meets Mod Oz fusion. Interesting cocktail selections, and the staff were quick with taking those. It was a shared plate menu, what impressed the most wasn't some of the more exotic ingredients or combos (black ants, emu), but the fact they offer both a meat & a vegetarian menu of equal length. Being a big group we ordered about 3/4 of the menu. My favs for the night were the Gunpowder Salmon with the green curry &...

The foods taste profile was on point. Some of the added bits, like the ants on the salmon were gimicky. We ordered the dehydrated bee pannacotta, was told its not possible to hold the bees, I didnt eat them due to a bee allergy! They made for a good talking point about the ethics of using endangered creatures for food adorn, ent. The pannacotta on its own was divine! Perhaps the bees were unneccessary, or maybe that was the point. Half of their menu was vegetarian, arguably the better less gimmicky half.We will go again, but will likely only eat from the vegetarian side of the menu.
Last minute outing and our favourite local Italian booked out so thought we would try another in Woolloongabba. The food was excellent but the wine list rather limited, young and expensive. Have a few beers on tap and service is very good although the waiters explanation of the food was lost in the general restaurant noise. Venue is large but not intimidating and ingredients in dishes quite innovative. All in all a great experience Book a table now
Finally, a Brisbane restaurant that takes Plant based vegan food seriously. The chefs took great pride in preparing our Chargrilled Broccoli with miso sauce and crunchy dried quinoa. My partner had the Octopus, which was outstanding. If you want quality dishes with attention to detail and mind blowing flavours. Get down to detour! :)
In the Gabba precinct this is a great new addition to the area. Nice fit out, relaxed and flexible menu. Good wine list with options by the glass and a few quirks to add interest. Food is for sharing and we enjoyed it all. Professional and friendly service too... Will be back!
Lovely food and wine, however the thing that made our night was our waitor. What a great older gentleman he was! He was so sincere, personable and warm. He made us feel like we were having a real family meal. He really made our night.
Enjoyed an innovative meal with work colleagues. Setting was good, as was service. Some very interesting dishes included the 'gunpowder salmon' and the 'Kentucky Fried Duck'. Well done! Book a table now
Beautiful food and great service , would highly recommend the salmon and crab , capsicum martini was exceptional and wait staff are very friendly . Will dine there again !

"The pasta at this restaurant is fantastic, the service is good, but the prices are a bit on the higher side. The gnocchi was particularly delicious, but there are other more satisfying options available for the same price."

"The food was tasty. But everyone at our table immediately felt very ill. Almost instantly. The salmon was also a little to raw. The meat was quite a fatty cut"
