During my overnight stay, I came across a charming restaurant tucked away in a small alleyway. The warm and welcoming atmosphere drew me in, and I was promptly seated and served a drink. The menu looked appealing, so I placed my order and was impressed by the quick and efficient service. Despite the busy crowd, the restaurant had a nice vibe. The food was delicious and fresh, especially the meatball main dish. My only suggestion would be to make the meatballs slightly bigger and add a bit more seasoning. Overall, a great dining experience.
We have been in town for four months and trying diff places every other week. We ate twice at the Italian place down the street, and went back for third but greeting always rubbed me the wrong way so actually turned around and went to Ship Inn. This week we tried Dexter's and it hit the nail on head, the staff is positive, professional, and all around great. We ordered the Greek app plate and 4 tapas plates with wine. Wife said it was the best dinner since we arrived. Good on all fronts. We found out main stay for dinner.
First time at this restaurant for a couples date night which we booked last minute we was made to feel welcome on entry ! We very much enjoyed our food had the seafood platter to start my husband had the fillet steak mains I had the lamb rump both was cooked just right was delicious, the service was also very good ! We would definitely recommend will definitely be back at some point as we don’t live in the local area but look forward to dining again at some point
Maxed their covers via close positioning of tables, difficult to eat once adjacent (ignorant! diners start standing beside your table whilst having long conversations. Sufficient staff but difficult getting service, took some ‘catching’ for attention. Strange looking rib-eye steak, more like a cheaper/tougher Tri-Tip Sirloin Steak cut, stopped chewing and left much of it. Writing this at 4am with indigestion, still, our dog liked the doggy bag.

We stopped here for lunch on a trip to Oundle. As it was one of the few sunny days so far this summer we opted to sit in the garden which was lovely. We both had a glass of the house Sauvignon Blanc which was excellent and well chilled. My son had a risotto and I had the tuna melt ciabatta which came with chips, coleslaw and mixed salad. The food was very good and the servers pleasant and helpful.
A truly memorable experience, the food was delicious, backed up by friendly, efficient service. We were lucky as the weather was good and we were able to sit in the beautiful courtyard garden. Brilliant atmosphere. Particular thanks to the waitress who very kindly brought our room key back to our hotel when we inadvertently left it behind. Highly recommend this place- will definitely be back.
We made a spontaneous decision to go out for dinner and try Dexters. The restaurant had a warm and cozy ambiance, creating a pleasant atmosphere. We both ordered different chicken dishes which were incredibly flavorful, and the desserts were also delicious. The staff was very courteous and friendly, making it a very enjoyable dining experience overall. We will definitely be returning.
Amazing service and lovely staff. We were unavoidably late for our table, my gran rang to let them know and they were extremely accommodating and happy to wait for us. Couldn’t thank the staff more for being so lovely about it and still serving us with a smile. Will definitely be back, the food was amazing. Thank you to the staff who were on. Excellent Mediterranean food with friendly service. The whitebait were great. I’ve never had a paella with so much spice in it, but the flavour was out of this world. And the caramel apple pie (with a birthday candle) was divine. Definitely on my to do list!
The food at this restaurant is excellent and the portions are generous. The atmosphere is lovely. However, the staff could have been more attentive as we had to get their attention a few times.
