Honestly, I don’t know why I haven’t heard more people talk about this restaurant. We live maybe 15 minutes away have always said we need to try this place out. My grandma ended up gifting us a gift card here for Christmas. Their dinners are family style, so you each order your entrees then they bring out different sides to share (green beans, mashed potatoes gravy, cole slaw, beets)! My boyfriend ordered the filet I ordered the salmon, which were both great!! While we were eating, I decided to read about the history it’s amazing! I was on Thanksgiving. Nobody wanted to cook. Well. They cooked. Family style. Cranberry sauce was from the chain. Perfect balance of sweet and tart. Could say it was fresh. Hot cookies that were obviously made at home. Put apple butter on the head. Pro Tip: You will be full when they ask for Dessert. Don't trust your instincts. Order the dessert.
If you are ever near Pocahontas Illinois and looking for a great place to eat, I recommend Diamond Mineral Springs, its a little off the beaten path, but worth the ride! Expect to pay between 15 30 dollars per record. Home Cooking and unlimited sides!
We were here for my daughter's rehearsal dinner. The fried chicken was delicious, the brisket was tender, and the family style sides hit the spot! A piece of foot-hi, coconut cream pie topped off one of the best meals I've had in a long time!
