We have had coffee and cake in 2014 and I remember it being good. So returning to Mainz this summer, I went out of my way to find this place. Arriving 1,5 hrs before their official closing time according to Dicke Lilli's own website, we...were denied service in disdain. Telling us they were closing early. Fortunately next door there was great coffee at Kaffeekomunen with very friendly service. A few days later we had another go at Dicke Lilli's and again we were denied entry arrogantly. This time the waitress did not bother to interrupt here mobile phone conversation. She had other priorities, apparently. We prefer Kaffeekomunen now.
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Mainz city centre you'll find Dicke Lilli gutes Kind, and it's definitely worth the little walk. Staff are always friendly, cakes are super fresh and yummy and the atmosphere is unique due to the location and the...interesting interior design. Prices are a little bit on the expensive side, especially for non-alcoholic drinks.
we had a Sunday brunch here. it was full when we arrived at 11:15 o'clock, but it was said to come back in half an hour and a table would be reserved for us. the atmosphere was really nice, prices reasonable and the vegan brunch (vincent vegan) was delicious. I'll come back to the final when I find myself in mainz.
What a great, small eatery! My breakfast and coffee were fantastic, and this place has a lot of charm. I sat by the window and enjoyed watching the city pass by. There's a reason this place has great reviews. Do yourself a favor and go...here, sit and relax, and enjoy some great food.

We came here on a sunday for breakfast, it is a lovely little café with excellent breakfast my husband is generally very picky and doesnt like girly places but even he had to admit that this place was worth the trip!
I really enjoy having a coffee and a cake after a long day of studying here. One of the best Cappuccinos in town. I really can recommend the carrot cake. Additionally the atmosphere is wonderful!
the service is very good courtesy and friendly waiters. the prizes are great for what they offer. I ordered a cappuccino that is huge and a quiche. could come back every day for a coffee.
Came on this by chance .A wonderful welcome and excellent food .It was festival day and the ambience was terrific. The service though was so friendly and using English was no problem .

the vegan breakfast is nice when a bit standard. they had this combination of tofu egg, broth rolls and spreads put on many. it is filling, but not a particularly large part.
