We were traveling from California to Wyoming and arrived in town late. This restaurant was just down the street from our hotel. There were no cars out front so we were a little worried (it was dark and late). But wow, when you walk in its clean and colorful, waitress was so nice. This was the BEST Mexican food we’ve had!!!! Everything was fresh, the flavor of the food was sooo good. Best salsa also. Do not go anywhere else for Mexican food.
Stopped by on the way back to Mesa AZ and Googled Mexican food Evaston glad I did. Restaurant was clean and employees were friendly and inviting. Right away was greeted and seated by hostess. Ordered the Macho#1 which I recommend. The food was great and plentiful, had to ask for box to take with us back to Hotel. If you are looking great Mexican food at a good price you can't go wrong. It's only 1.5 miles off of interstate.
They served very hot plates in front of a 2-year-old, expecting her not to touch them. The plate was even hotter than the food itself. The rice was quite good, and the enchiladas were decent as well. However, the black beans were a different matter entirely. They tasted burnt, as if the bottom had been scorched, and instead of leaving that part alone, they mixed it all in. Unfortunately, they were not tasty at all.
I had the seafood chimichanga and my son had the chicken chimichanga ranchera. Both were excellent and served on HOT plates. Lots of meat in each. The complimentary chips come with a well flavored, though not spicy, salsa and a creamy bean dip that is delicious! Service was good. Staff are friendly. Parking: Plenty of parking. I was in a pickup truck pulling a trailer and had no problem finding a spot. Book a table now
If you are a vegetarian don't order from the vegetarian menu. Grab a cheese quesadilla or some guacamole. The veggie burrito is unseasoned, sort of hard, California blend vegetables in a tortilla. Honestly my child's beef burrito was heaps and bounds the best thing we ate. So if you like beef this place is good. The bean dip salsa was also actually very good.
So disappointed!!! Food was not good, service was poor at best, and to make it worse because I didn't eat any of my food I tried to order ice cream so at least I got something to eat and she told me it was too late to order ice cream. About 15 years of coming here down the drain in one night. So disappointed.
I ordered the sizzling beef and chicken fajitas, which were more than enough for two people and delicious. Our server, Diego, was friendly and a pleasure to chat with. Great job, Diego! We would definitely come back if we're ever in town again.
