Although Nighttown enjoyed many successful years, it was starting to show its age, yet it still provided an enjoyable experience. No one saw its abrupt closure coming—not me, at least. When it did shut its doors, there was uncertainty about whether it would ever reopen. Nighttown had been a part of my family 's dining experience for several decades, and while I had moved and the restaurant had been sold, I was anxious to try the new incarnation. While visually the restaurant maintained much of its original ambiance, the food and particularly the service was disappointing. Several of the original menu items were retained, but there were some new options. Over-all the menu is more modest than I remember. As to food quality; it was ok. While a grilled chicken sandwich may not have been a fair representitive menu option, it was obviously handbreaded, but not particularly tasty. The service was in a word poor . We were excited to return to Nighttown after a long absence, and while the service and staff were generally wonderful during our brunch yesterday (Sunday), the food was quite disappointing. Both my husband and I found our meals to be lacking in flavor, with overly complex preparations that resulted in muddled tastes. The potatoes were excessively salted, and while the arugula side salad was a delightful touch, it was disappointingly small. Our dissatisfaction began with the server mistakenly mixing up our plates, leaving us confused as we started eating dishes that didn't match our orders. I wish I could be evaluating the food at Nighttown, but unfortunately, this review will only focus on our service, or the lack thereof. My party and I were seated quickly when we enter Nighttown, but that was the last we saw of service. Our waiter popped over about 5-10 minutes after we'd been seated and said that he would be back. However, he did not return to take our orders or provide water, despite coming into the room multiple times to service the other customers. We waited 30 minutes, and still did not have water, and lost all hope of our waiter ever returning, so we decided to leave. He only appeared once we were all about to leave and we informed him that we would not be dining in.
This is not the Nighttown I remember; it feels more like a nightmare. I can't recall a restaurant that has cared less about its food and menu. The kitchen seems disorganized—our dinner took ages to arrive and was served cold. The menu is very limited and lacks creativity. The salads appeared to be thrown together without any care or thought—just a heap of iceberg lettuce for $15. While our server was friendly and tried their best, they couldn't seem to get any order correct from the kitchen. If you decide to visit, I suggest bringing a sandwich so you'll have something to eat. It's truly disappointing to see what was once a Cleveland Heights institution fall to such a low level.
My parents got engaged at this restaurant and recently returned to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary! The manager worked with me to create a truly special experience for them. He decorated their table with beautiful flowers and even printed a picture from their wedding, placing it in a lovely frame on the table. To top it off, the band played a song from their wedding! It was an incredible evening, and I'm so thankful to the manager, Nick, for making this anniversary so memorable for my parents!
No blues, no jazz and not classic! They could benefit from modifying their menu with at least a FEW classics. Even the accompaniments are trying so hard to be trendy, we asked if we could substitute anything for things we didn't like or want and were told no. We were left ordering a burger and a Caesar salad with salmon. Meal was Only fair. Value for the price was low. Service was good.

The service at this restaurant did not meet my expectations. Our waiter seemed quite arrogant and failed to prepare my cocktail according to my request. He also delayed in bringing our guest her wine, even though the place wasn’t crowded, and did not fully clear the table afterwards. The food quality was not as high as advertised. However, I must say that the music duo was excellent.
Love this place!! Came by for brunch and drinks many times and always got good serv. Would definitely recommend!
