Every Sunday there is a vide grenier (empty attic the French equivalent of a car boot sale) in Paulhan. The sun was shining as we circled the stalls before sitting outside for a cup of coffee at the Café du Commerce. One of our party, who lives in the village, had booked a table for lunch. Gave this restaurant a five star review last year. Regrettably following our last visit our opinion has turned full circle. Gone has the friendly warm welcome that we once received and clearly this establishment is now suffering from overcrowding and lack of staff at the lunchtime opening.Standard of meals has deteriorated as has the sanitary facilities. Regrettably we will not be returning and would advise other to do the same.

local workers and troisieme age, who frequent it regularly (we know because we were there ourselves several times) So that's always a good sign. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Staff very convivial and informal, but also efficient. Very helpful/ sympathetic when we had a wine/water spillage don't think we were charged for the replacements. Outside eating very pleasant with plenty of shade.

Could not agree more with the previous review. We have been going for many years to The Commerce and have always been delighted with the experience. The atmosphere is superb especially in summer when you can dine outside in a courtyard under the platane trees. Service always good and the food excellent. Would rate it in our top 5 anywhere.
