Saw the good-looking varied menu on the website a few days before our visit with friends. On arrival we found there was no main menu but only Spanish tapas and paella. Among the tapas the tortilla was too salty; the “pan con tomate” was brown bread toasted! This also had a slice of (perhaps) Spanish ham which was cut far too thick and was so tough and chewy it was inedible. At least the chunks of potato were fine, but the aioli was thin and tasteless. The seafood paella was the worst we have ever eaten. Tough, dry overcooked mussels, the slices of pepper tasted as though they were straight from a jar and the rice had no fish flavour whatsoever. Called in for drinks Table service due to covid Waitress very young too young to drink her words knew nothing about what beer was on offer. No lemon in the gin and tonic Fever tree on receipt shwepps given to us. Yet another poor setup with no actual service to speak of. Why oh why can 't the simplest of functions of a service industry like a pub serving drinks only be got right? Won 't be back unless I hear things have significantly improved- a real shame because it 's in a beautiful location

Reach is a very quaint village that looks how you might imagine it to have been fifty years ago (except for the Fibre broadband cabinet). The pub is no exception. Not remotely twee or gastropub like but a proper old school country pub. It was towards the end of the pandemic stage 4 so the menu was limited but my fish and chips were delicious! Great value too.

We stumbled upon this pub at the end of the Dyke. We sat outside in the beer garden and had a lovely braised beef lunch with an excellent Yorkshire pudding. Very tasty. The pudding was nice too, an apple and caramel pie. All the ladies who served us were pleasant and friendly. We’d definitely return here.
