E S is an outstanding family-owned seafood restaurant situated in a quaint strip mall in St. Charles, on the west side of the river, right across from Salerno's. We have been loyal customers for years, and we absolutely love it. Originally a seafood market, you can still purchase fresh seafood on-site. A couple of years ago, they expanded the restaurant, so you're usually able to find a table with little to no waiting. The menu features a limited but carefully curated selection of appetizers and entrees each evening, all centered around seafood, and they don't offer desserts. It's important to make a reservation before dining here. The menu is somewhat limited and reportedly changes frequently. The appetizer, reminiscent of sushi, was accompanied by an outstanding sauce. The soup included chunks of fish, and the fish itself was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor. An interesting side dish was the baked potato, which was generously topped with melted butter and sour cream. The portion sizes were quite generous, leaving us with no leftovers to take home. What a hidden gem! My friends brought me to this incredible restaurant, which is BYOB, so don’t forget to bring your own drinks. The service we experienced was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and our water glasses were always full. The selection of fresh fish was impressive; the tuna appetizer was a standout, as were the crab cakes and oysters. The grouper and halibut were both exceptional, and the scallops also earned high praise. This restaurant is a hidden gem with incredible food! The seafood dishes are the best. The service is excellent. We dined there on Saturday and enjoyed wonderful live music; we also brought our own wine. We both loved our fish dinners—the chefs are truly talented!
