I’ve eaten here before over many years and was very surprised to find how quiet it was here on the night. Having been travelling to the other side of the world and back for the last few months I was looking forward to real British carvery, with maybe a beer, so when visiting life long friends in Bromsgrove we decided to splash out on a 6:30 pm trip for dinner. It’s a pub of two half’s, with the old roadside part of restaurant bar and a larger glass filled seating extension over looking the canal, so there’s plenty of room if it gets busy, but we always phone for a booking first to ensure that the carvery is actually on. Thing is now days, since recent events in the U.K. demand has somewhat d...

I opted to choose from the normal menu with the battered fish and chips. The piece I had was 95% batter, which was mega greasy. It says something when the chips were the best part of the meal. The majority of the family had the carvery, which they were happy with, and I did try the beef, and that was exceptional. The service was quite slow, and the empty plates stayed on our table for a good 25 minutes. There was also a promotion of Pepsi (fizzy drinks) where the driver would get free drinks, but I had 3 pints of Pepsi and paid £3.80 for each one of them. I dont feel its upto me to tell the staff. They should be the ones asking. After all, it was them that said we didn't need a stamp??? I wi...

Unfortunately not the best meal I have ever had I went for my birthday with my husband Ordered the cod. chips mine was overdone batter was burnt girl asked if everything was ok told her she said she would tell chef but never came out a very poor meal in addition can’t see why they were sweeping floor in front of bar when customers were eating and cleaning the glass on the doors when my husband paid they said they were sorry the food was burnt and took the price of the coffee off the bill and hoped we would go back again but after looking at their carvery I don’t think so I think they could learn a lot from the The plough at far forest which is far superior Will not be going again food comple...

Went for a carvery only to find out that’s it’s not really a carvery as you can not help yourself..there was a miserable chef behind a screen very inpatient, rude and literally threw our food onto our plates!! Shocking. The food was inedible my wife didn’t even eat hers. Pub staff/managers were not very helpful and abrupt on entering and waiting for service… From what being one of the best carvery’s in Worcestershire to the worst unfortunately..shame. Our previous time we were told their wasn’t any sauces to see a great big bowl full as we left. It’s a lovely setting especially in the summer but unfortunately we will not go back. Hate to think what their breakfasts are like.. Book a table now

When the restaurant up the road (Vernon Arms) denied all knowledge of our booking for 9 people, made more than a month earlier, the Eagle and Sun pulled out all the stops to fit our party in on Saturday night, welcoming us with crackers and friendly service. Our food was plentiful and delicious, the service excellent and even when we accidentally left a cracker too close to a candle and set it on fire there was no drama, just jokes. The bill was a pleasant surprise excellent value and what could have been a disastrous evening turned into a very pleasurable one. They even provided foul to take lectovers home for our dogs. Well done all at The Eagle and Son. We’ll be back!

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff were friendly. This was my first visit, but I will definitely be returning. The waitress who served us was lovely, and the chef did an excellent job. The portions were also very generous. The restaurant overlooks a canal with barges passing by.

My family went for a walk along the canal and decided to stop in for lunch. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff were friendly and quickly found us a table. The carvery was delicious, the service was excellent, and it was nice to see a real fire. We will definitely be returning! Book a table now

I stopped by with my dad for a casual dinner since we didn't feel like cooking. We enjoyed two delicious meals and some tasty beer, and we left feeling very satisfied. The staff was fantastic - friendly and genuine.
