I usually have a good idea of what to expect when visiting this chain of pubs, but unfortunately, despite its great location and venue, it didn't quite meet my usual standards. It wasn't overly busy on a Sunday afternoon, but the service at the bar was much slower than it should have been. Many of the staff seemed preoccupied with other tasks instead of serving the growing number of customers. The same was true for table cleaning, as there were plenty of empty glasses and dirty tables in the area near the bar. However, once past that initial hurdle, the rest of the experience was satisfactory. The food was served quickly, presented well, and hot. The serving staff were friendly and engaging,...

I have no idea what this used to be but it makes for a very interesting pub. On two levels, really nice layout but could be cleaner. The bar staff were OK and obviously tge prices are cheap. However, a real ale like Abbott must be kept properly and this wasn't. Cheap but poor. One meal was OK the other poor. Very soggy toast which must have been prepared some time earlier, eggs not done well (to be fair, not always easy in a large place) and the bacon was black. Not just tge edges which would be fine but 70% of it. Not good enough and as there are quite a few similar comments it's something management needs to understand (like the poor beer). I think this could be a very good Spoons but need...
This was my first time going here and will probably be my last, as was kicked out after not even being there 30 minutes, it was said we were vaping but we weren’t (just to clarify I DONT VAPE), then was forced by one of the bouncers to finish my large pitcher in two minutes with them at my shoulder, I suffer from anxiety and have a heart condition so this was not an ideal situation for me to be in. In the end I had just left without finishing the drink I had paid for, so I am thoroughly disappointed with my first experience here. I’ve been to many spoons around the country and this was the first I’ve been treated like this.
What an absolute cesspit this place has become. Twice I have visited in the last month with a visitor from Jersey and I more disgusting pace I would be hard pushed to find. 3 pints, one of which was returned because it tasted just like malt vinegar and the other 2 which we left, the first pint I have left in a pub for over 20 years. The pace was filthy, stunk, was full of flies and the gents toilet was a sea of urine. We were not the only one to leave without having finished our drinks, some pints were almost untouched. What a shame, it never used to be like this. Book a table now
Great place, we all need a Spoons in town, it tempers the prices of other establishments when there 's one in the vicinity. Beers on a Monday £1.49 crikey you cant grumble. Staff are nice in the Earl, yes sure it could do with a tidy up in places, but this is a well used place. This week I had a managers special gammon chips, pint of Abbot Reserve for old Roy, a bottle of Newcastle brown ale for Dangerous Darren, and a pint of Stella for me. This came in at just over a tenner.
I visited this restaurant today because of the limited selection of guest ales in Wellingborough. They had the same two ales as they did 24 hours ago. I tried two of the three guest ales and found them to be of good quality, and the service was also good. Note that they are in the process of replacing all the carpets (half of the downstairs area has already been done) and they are also recovering the stools and chairs.
We stopped by for lunch on curry day during the week and were pleasantly surprised. For less than £10 each, we enjoyed a curry, rice, nan, poppadums, and a drink. The food was decent. The restaurant had recently been refurbished and had a good amount of customers, creating a nice atmosphere.
This was the first time we visited this particular Wetherspoons , and it won't be the last. The staff were pleasant and helpful especially Danny and Aimee. We had an afternoon deal of fish and chips with a soft drink, very reasonable. All in all a good place to go. Book a table now
(26-12-22) Our fourth pub and a drop in quality as when we went in we had a bit of attitude with a barman who got a bit of an attitude while a couple chose what drink to have? I don't no why as it wasn't busy? We got a table and didn't let it bother us.
In October Breakfast for 2 both cold my egg raw, in November Breakfast for 2 both cold, I will try one more time if the same that will be the last.
