This is a poor review. I’ve dined at EDGAR on other occasions, and it has always been very good. However, on this occasion, I received a voicemail from the restaurant, not more than hours before our reservation time for our party of that Edgar would be hosting a private event and we would be moved to an annex area of sorts. They had a name for it that I cannot recall. Being too late to change our plans, we dined in a room that had more in common with a storage room than a dining venue. We gathered for a birthday party and had requested a nook, or area where we could celebrate as a small group of EDGAR gave us the private room with out asking! This was a nice start to a lovely evening. The food was very tasty and the wine (INSTRINSIC from Washington State) was yummy. I used my OT rewards to help defray the costs. Since we were apart, service kind of lagged, but we didnt care, besides the evening was declared a success by the bday girl!
Restaurant is severely understaffed. They did not recognize my brunch reservation. I ended up sitting at the bar to get served. Sat a long time to order food. The couple sitting next to me ordered after me and had more complex orders, but they got their food before me. The food took forever to come out and pieces were missing. The coffee cup had lipstick on it At night for drinks, the bartenders were friendly. Cocktails were quick and tasty.
As a local, I really wanted to like this place, and have it be our new go-to spot. On previous occasions, the bartenders and the drinks were amazing. However, the restaurant staff and food didn’t live up to the rest. The servers were inattentive. The food order was inaccurate and delivered cold. There was no real effort on staff’s part.

Great food, several items on the menu were unavailable and there were no replacements for them. Nice atmosphere on the outside by the windows, a little cramped and could have used some updating, but otherwise enjoyable. Aggressive wait staff, so make sure you let them know when they can remove your drinks and plates.
Food was Good but the service left something to be desired. We had to wait for the hostess to seat us and then she had to run down a waiter. While we waited for her another waiter appeared and took our order. Then our waiter appeared and asked to take our order. It was like the Abbt and Costello show.
Floor and booth seating was very dirty. Food was great. Service was as well until the server forgot to complete our closeput.
What an amazing experience! By far, the best service I’ve had in DC!
