I quite often go onto Tripadvisor to read reviews when looking to dine out somewhere, however, I do not often write reviews. On this occasion I felt the need to write one! I visited Ekhidna wines with family yesterday for my birthday because of the excellent reviews I saw online, and it did not disappoint. When we arrived we were welcomed into the restaurant overlooking the beautiful vineyards. Jeremy our server was excellent! He provided great customer service skills, was chatty and had a lovely personality, and was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating when ordering the food, especially as I needed to have a slight change to a component in one of the dishes. The food was absolutely out...

We came down in June after waiting for the new setting to be ready and calm. The new location is a little out of the way and the road isn't sealed (but it's not dirt either- in the middle). It takes a while to get there but once you hit the sealed section- it's not far. The wine tasting hall is brilliant- you can sit there and order platters to share or just line up at one of the three benches for tasting. The dining is in two areas- an enclosed restaurant overlooking the vineyard or an outside courtyard with heaters for warmth in winter. The new chef has done a fabulous job of maintaining the 'pub' feel to the food to match the wines and beer. The balance of flavours and freshness of ingred...

I had the honour of attending this cellar door for mine and a friend's birthdays. This winery, and every single person there, were an utter delight! The manager Matt looked after us extremely well and not only made our experience so enjoyable (right from the booking process) but also for accommodating and being inviting to all 17 of us. I know that it can be difficult to manage such a large group but Matt was wonderful and engaging. Everyone really appreciated his energy and service. Since visiting the winery, I have had countless compliments about how fantastic the service and products are. The whole experience was an utter delight and cannot be faulted. We are truly grateful for everything...

We visited the cellar door with friends. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The wines are tasty and affordable. Beer and cider flights are also available. We had the chef's selection for lunch and enjoyed the quality and quantity of food provided. Lunch included three entrees and two main courses (two plates of each course were provided with the exception of one main course - this was to be shared amongst four people). The wine we ordered was decanted - much appreciated. Courses were nicely paced.Seating options available include the dining room, bar area or outside area. Book a table now

Having eaten at Assaggio's in Hyde Park two days before, we were taken by surprise to see an almost identical menu. We ate well and quite enjoyed the Scandi atmosphere. Stunning outlook with a delightful outdoor patio. But back to the food and my favourite whinge - why does all the Aioli I get served taste like commercial mayonnaise? Where is the bite of lemon or the piquancy of garlic?Go. See. Eat. You won't be sorry. And you will find out the reason for the name Ekhidna.

I was part of a large group for dinner. The venue was accommodating and scenic. The service was spot on. The chef did a magnificent job with delivering steak done ideally for each of us.The entre with local ingredients was tasty and well received. A delightful cheese platter topped off a great night.Oh,forgot to mention that they make and serve great Mclaren Vale wine set in the midst of the vineyards. Well done

Following a great experience at the "old" Ekhidna, we were looking forward to the "new". So disappointed. The view is fantastic, the food not bad, but the service was appalling. We were abandoned after the main course. Never did see our waiter again. Trip Adviser needs to separate the reviews into "old" and "new" as currently they are misleading.

Ekhidna was a favourite before it moved, so we were sad to see it close.Happily it has reopened in a new spot, a little off the beaten track.Overlooking the vineyards makes a great setting. The wines are excellent and fairly priced. The menu has something for every one and there are usually interesting specials.Highly recommended Book a table now

Went here for Saturday lunch with our family of 5 from Aldinga Beach whilst visiting from Sydney. The service, atmosphere, location, food and wine was very special. Would have no hesitation in recommending the venue for any occasion, we will be back.
