In my constant effort to identify joy, I have been laboring through the many available places for street tacos in our fair city. It is a bi-state effort and I am tireless in my pursuit. I have come to question Mexican restaurants which serve street tacos although there are some excellent ones. The best seem to always be connected to a Mexican market and it was no exception this Sunday when after church I visited Rico 's TACOS IN THE El Morelia Super Mercado. The place sits at the entry of the market. You order on the right and the cook food on the other side. They offer 6-7 offerings including Tinga, pork, marinated pork, Mexican sausage, steak, asada, pastor and lingua. I got 4 tacos for 11...

St. Louis certainly has an abundance of taco spots, from restaurants to corner markets and bars. Most of the tacos I've tried have ranged from decent to quite good, but the tacos at El Morelia Super Mercado are truly exceptional! I discovered this hidden gem while searching for charro beans—something I used to find easily while living in Texas. To my delight, I discovered so much more. I was a bit disappointed to learn that tacos are only served on weekends, but knowing that they are the best tacos I've ever had gives me something to look forward to after a long work week.

On Sundays they serve food right when you walk in the door. The pastor tacos were yummy and they had toppings to choose from yourself. But, the real star of the show is their horchata-probably my favorite that I've had in St. Louis 10/10. You're in a supermarket, but they have tables to sit at after you walk in to the right. So, after eating you can take a look around and buy some delicious things to make at home.

Great store when you're looking for hard to find Latino items. Great prices on produce and is a dull carneceria. Their carnitas are very flavorful and can easily make a full meal for large families. They have a small taco shop we've ate at several times and reasonable prices. Only thing missing is menudo! Book a table now

Absolutely love this store! Amazing fresh tacos on Sundays. Great butcher with affordable prices and very very nicely trimmed meat. Fresh bakery goods. Great produce section. Also fresh pork rinds yum! We try to go here couple times a month.

Store has many Spanish varieties of items and the meat market has several different cuts of meat. Also their weekend cooked/prepared meats is delicious. After shopping, you can get some tacos from Rico's tacos and their salsa bar.

Wow, the best lengua taco I've ever had. The food store also has a fantastic bakery and overall the largest selection in the area for all goods!
