So we had a bad meal before so haven't been for some time wife said it's sounding like it's back on again people saying great food etc so we took father in law an mother in law for midweek treat so 4 meal's table booked for 6.45pm bit of a push wife finished work at 6pm pick the in law's up get there 6.40pm table was ready finds out what everyone wants order's to be told there's a bit of a wait for food upto 45 minutes OK not a problem gets drinks sits down nearly an hour food comes looks at my medium done mix grill all i can see is burnt not charcoal grilled burnt so thought it's treat night shut up an eat it don't spoil the night well the chicken was only charcoal done but you could of res...
Castle Gardens used to be great, the meals, service and staff here have always been excellent. My partner and I have been coming here on average once every 4-5 wèeks for about 18 months. Unfortunately tonight's experience was a disaster. We came with friends tonight so 4 meals. Cremated steak was the 1st disaster, after complaining a replacement was fetched but again not much better . The 2nd Steak meal again was over cooked, should of been medium rare. My partner had rib of beef that was lovely apart from the vegetables where under cooked and hard. All the meals where served on cold plates. Not a good experience tonight. Such a shame Castle Gardens.
Have to admit had a roast dinner here about a year ago and was not impressed so although still go to Castle gardens had other food off the menu. However on Sunday just gone I had the short rib roast dinner to give another go ,it was lovely ,the beef tender ,cabbage leeks and peas with stuffing and Yorkshire and crispy roast potatoes. Give my thanks to whoever's in the kitchen there because the food is beautiful as well as always great service by staff
We have just been for a family celebratory meal at the Castle Gardens, there were 5 of us and it was superb. The short rib of beef Sunday lunch is absolutely perfect and absolute value for money! All the food was piping hot and well presented. Even the red wine was served at the correct room temperature . 10 out of 10 to the Castle Gardens team for making us feel welcome and their excellent service...we will be back!

Simply exceptional. We settled on the castle gardens to hold the wake of my father in law. From enquiring to booking to attending, the service was simply superb. Extremely attentive and sympathetic. Food was sensational. Atmosphere fantastic. Staff brilliant. Cant thank pj, andy and the team enough. Definatly a place to visit.
Been attending the pub on a regular basis since august and the food and service was excellent as always. Really nice bar staff and very friendly especially Rachel. Always helps by signing in to use the pubs WiFi you get discount vouchers for the next time you go. Dog friendly water for them available.
Slow ordering to table wait time. (Not busy). Cold plates. Well over cooked meats two attempts on one of the steaks. Ask medium to well. Both cremated. After some years of experience actually 46 years Bass and ember inns. My own opinion was chargrill far too hot. Veg on one meal undercooked and cold.
visited tonight for our evening meal,the service was warm and welcoming as always the food was delicious the service was brilliant and with the offers on with the meals and the wine it was a very enjoyable evening we would highly recommend

Food is always lovely and the service is second to none. The girls on the floor are constantly smiling despite the pub being so full. Bar staff are also helpful. Love coming here with friends and family!
