Really beautiful old building, peaceful, quiet, all the views you could want, lawns, river walks and minutes in the car out of Newcastle. Food superb, breakfast cooked to order and served fresh and hot to your table by staff that are all pleasant and eager to please. Very comfortable bed and super wet room provided as back pain means I am unable to climb into a bath. Stayed in Slieve Donard and Burrendale in the past but this is the place we will go back to. The peace and quiet, the food and the service, (including internet) is worth putting up with some slightly elderly furniture.
It tells you a lot that the locals love this place. It's a great inn with terrific staff. Every view from our room was like a portrait. Although it sits on a hill away from the sea, the drive time to the water is about three minutes. Keep this on your short list of places to stay! Internet connectivity is dodgy so if you need it for business, keep that in mind!
I enjoyed my stay in this beautiful hotel with my man and 2 year old son. the staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. the breakfast and the evening meal were nice. the ground is amazing with a beautiful river to foot with many different trees and plants. I will be coming back
