In Halifax with family for a few days. Drove by the place heading to a local mall. Returned later in the afternoon to have lunch. Lots of locals. Many seniors seem to like this place. Place looks like it had lots of history. They offered 20% your bill if you purchased tickets to the Nova Scotia Tattoo-which we did and they happily took the discount off on our bill. Decent food. Not huge portions. Overall friendly service. Encourage you to stop by to experience a local Darmouth/Halifax/Bedford haunts. Establishments such as these are disappearing across the US and Canada.
when the first place tried to wait too long and the reviews here were really what sold me. the place has definitiw a retro feeling to him and an old family vibe also, eating was delicious and the server was really nice and attentive. would definitely recommend to check it and also try the seafood knower!
We went to the Esquire Restaurant for dinner. Seating was a bit haphazard but we managed to get a table OK. We had the lobster roll and the fish and chips, both were fine with loads of fries. Service was friendly.
Best Seafood Chowder ever! The scallops were enormous! So rich and hearty! We were there twice this week, both times the food was excellent. Props to Nora on Wednesday and Christy on Sunday.
