Really, there are two reasons why this lunch failed to reach the standard. As well as being rated (and priced) with two stars, there was no choice in the menu. In other words the restaurant had decided what we should eat. Now, when this is the case, a "wow" factor is called for, and it simply wasn't there:Slivers of char in a camomile sauce sounded interesting, but failed to excite. Then a dish of kohlrabi in a careful sauce, but, whichever way you slice it, kohlrabi is kohlrabi, ~ cheap and flavourless. Then roast lamb and broccoli. Very nicely done, but nothing specialFinally a parsley ice cream with cereals. For this surely the flavour of the herb should be intense. It was barely discernibl...

Although the fish and meat elements of each course at this intimate two star were sublime, the house speciality is to work magic with vegetables. From the fifteen hour baked beetroot to the under stated "celery with potato", the flavours were sensational. With several amuse bouches preceding the seven course tasting menu, and a brilliantly matched flight of wines to pair each course, there's no shortage of wonderful experiences served throughout a relaxed evening service. No pricing was displayed on the menus nor on the web site, although you can get an idea from Google. The bill was pretty typical for a two star, perhaps on the high side for the region, but worth every euro for the experienc...

Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. The attentive staff, the ambience, even the having to ring the bell to gain entry added to the experience. And then of course the food. It was, quite simply, the best meal I have ever eaten anywhere. The two Michelin-starred menu (there are no choices) was sublime. From the five different amuse-bouche, through two fish courses, to a main of duck and then horseradish (!) ice-cream, the textures and flavours were simply incredible. Coupled with perfectly paired wines, the whole evening was one we shall remember for years to come. A previous reviewer said that this restaurant was worth coming all the way to Nuremberg for, and I wholeheartedly ag...

The food was uniformly excellent, especially the 4 amuse bouches & vegetables. Also had a lovely Franconian Riesling. However, we started at 7 PM & finished (w/o coffee) at close to 11 because the service was dependent upon all of the diners, regardless of when they started, finished their meals. In other words, we all got our desserts at the same time, so we had to wait an excruciatingly long time between courses after the first few. This is NOT the way to run a Michelin starred restaurant, and detracted mightily from its enjoyment. We were most pleased at the start of the meal, and most irritated & disappointed at the end. Go here. Order whatever suites your fancy off the menu. You will be happy you did. Let's just say Germany isn't "known" for it's cuisine. Yes, they do pork, sausage, etc. But can you REALLY eat that every day. No thank you. This restaurant however is a hidden treasure. Everything on the menu is so incredibly good. It's a great break from the traditional Germany food. Go here, enjoy.

Great meal. Multiple amuse-bouches that were fantastic. The use of vegetables was eye opening. Mildest venison steak that I have ever had. Parsley ice cream, who would have thought of that! The wine pairing was interesting with an emphasis on local wines but also had a couple that came from Croatia and even California. Refined but relaxing atmosphere. Expensive but worth it!

Without doubt the most incredible experience and flavoursome food I've ever had.I highly advise letting the sommelier choose the wine to accompany the food. You will not regret that decision. Expensive restaurant but you cannot let price put you off this experience.I look forward to returning again next year.
