We went for a meal to celebrate my husband’s birthday whilst in Calais and wanted somewhere relaxed but cosy. This pub was perfect. We had a couple of their draft beers each (all were nice) and had 1/2 roast chicken and chips and the coq...au vin and chips. Food was amazing- especially good were the chips! We also had dessert- cheese platter and ice cream. All in all a great choice. Was worth getting soaked walking back to the campsite afterwards. We went again the next night but it was shut so we were very disappointed! If ever passing through Calais again we will definitely visit this pub.
We just wanted somewhere we could watch the Grand Prix, and have a bite to eat. After several refusals at other 'English' and 'Sports' bars.The Family Pub doesn't look much from the outside, but the welcome we had in there was exceptional. Staff are so engaging and helpful.I had the bavette eschallote. I was first-class - tasty, tender and a portion I didn't think I could finish - but I did! My wife's pizza less good, but adequate.And the bill - after several wines, beers, coffees - small change.We'll definitely go there again.
Usually shy away from any place with "Family" in it but seemed popular and gave it a go - so glad we did - yes, a simple menu - felt like a burger and so flavoursome/moist/ great chips /good salad and a great local beer on tap - they made a great omelette for my wife - cheerful service and a great price - no its not 5 star dining but is not why you would go there - great value and tasty to boot! - will definitely be the place we return to when passing through Calais again
Thought it was about time I reviewed this lovely pub/eatery. Have a drink or 2 every time I pass through Calais and even eaten in it 3 times. Lovely place, great choice of beers. Food never disappoints me. Wish this place was my local pub I love it so much.What really stands out is the friendly staff and how they treat you, exceptional Service every visit and always with a fantastic smile. They give off an aura like they enjoy their jobs.See you again next June.

Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and tempting menu lured us in to eat. We ate al-fresco - it was lovely and warm. Despite a few mix ups with the order we did eventually get what we ordered. Sadly the seafood pizza I ordered was appalling. It was dry, as if it had been prepared and cooked much earlier, left in a hot cupboard for a long time.I cannot recommend this bar as somewhere to eat.
It's in the centre of Calais, almost directly opposite the Ibis Styles. It serves an eclectic mix of bistro style food and the speciality burgers are amazing. There was a birthday party going on with the staff as "superheroes", though they looked like the crew of Mrs Brown's Boys..This was my 3rd visit here and it never disappoints. The menu is moderately priced.
Well what can I say...The food is very tasty and big portions at a reasonable price. My partner and friend had burger and chips which was huge and looked delicious. I had baked camembert with cured meats and chips which was outstanding and so big!Drinks were good too and friendly, helpful staff.
Basically a French pub with standard fare (omelettes, burgers, salads etc). A casual place, good for groups at late notice! We had a friendly and amusing waiter! Amazing how much humour can be shared when you 're not even speaking the same language!

Opposite our hotel so thought we would give it a try. Lovely waitress.Nice food. And great surroundings. Big portions of food at reasonable prices and ideal for just sitting watching the world go by.
After a great day trip to the Calais area from England the family of four children and two adults arrived back in the town and searched for a place to eat.
