However, what truly unsettled me was when she picked up her phone while still wearing the gloves she'd used to handle food. We visited Firehouse Subs on a Monday afternoon in late winter and were the only customers at the time. The staff was very friendly, and our order arrived quickly and steaming hot. However, I have to take off one star for cleanliness, as the floors and tables could have used more attention, and another star for the broken soda machine. Late-night visit. When I arrived, there were three young employees on duty. They all rushed back into the kitchen as soon as I walked in. What frustrates me is that the owner or the person responding always resorts to the same excuse: "we have staffing issues." This reasoning has been repeated in reviews from as far back as two years ago. It seems that neither the employees nor the owner are taking these concerns seriously. Meanwhile, the cashier was preoccupied with preparing drinks while customers waited for help. I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant and its staff.
