This was my first visit to the restaurant after it had been renovated. The atmosphere seemed fine, but I preferred the previous Flava with its comfortable armchairs. I decided to order macaroni and cheese with garlic bread and hand-cut thick chips. I thought that it would be a safe choice, but it turned out to be absolutely terrible. It looked like pasta swimming in a watery orange sauce that didn't taste like cheese at all. In fact, it tasted more like smoked ham, which worried me because my daughter is vegetarian. I struggled to eat even a third of it before giving up. The cheese was so runny that it soaked into the garlic bread that was placed on top. The chips were stale, and I couldn't...

There were more than just minor issues at this restaurant. We arrived five minutes early with our elderly mother for our family lunch of 8, only to find that our reserved table for 1:30 had not been set up. The young bar manager informed us that other customers were now using it and refused to ask them to move. After several requests and unhelpful exchanges, it became clear that there was a significant lack of customer service. We decided to leave at that point, leaving our disappointed mother behind. Thankfully, Cafe Continental saved the day by welcoming us with exceptional food and service on short notice. We suggest that the staff at Flava, now known as the River, undergo customer servic...

Had coffee and scones here this morning. My friend’s scone had a hair in it and she returned it half eaten, explaining the problem, saying she was put off and wouldn’t want another. However, we were offered no explanation, replacement or refund. When we enquired as to what was being done about it, we were informed that we didn’t want another scone, so really nothing at all was being done, but the kitchen had been informed. We then asked if at least a refund for the returned scone would be appropriate? This was given, although, I have to say, I was also put off my scone, which I left. I did ask if the manager was in and I was told he had been informed, but no one came to speak to us. Bad prac...

We called in for a tea a cake, when the waitress came to take our order we asked if they had any scones, she said that she would go down stairs and see. She came back with 3 lovely scones with butter and jam. She the brought our drinks. The scones were the best we had tasted in a long time very light and tasty. All in all a really nice afternoon experience. Book a table now

This was our favourite coffee shop in Gourock, but sadly, things have changed and standards have slipped since the refurbishment and change of staff. There is a lack of caring about the customer. Hopefully things will improve and we can have our favourite ‘Flava’ standards restored.

Didn’t eat here but needed a good cup of coffee. They had a range of plant based milks and while not to Melbourne standards, the coffee was decent. Friendly service too and welcoming with a nice view and atmosphere.

Recently refurbished and looks great. My friend and I chose to visit for some good food and a lovely catchup. We sat at the window with a fabulous view over the Firth of Clyde which really added to our experience. Book a table now

This coffee shop Restuarant has just gone through a huge refurbishment. The premises are on the whole well done although some of the booths are a little small)
