We made a dinner booking and were given a nice table in the charming outdoor area. A guitarist singing Brazilian (I think) music made for a lovely ambience. We opted to share a variety of tapas style dishes. Ceviche was beautiful. Fresh and delish. Pork belly was tasty but a tad dry. Others dishes we tried were the trio of skewers, empanadas and the calamari. All were very good without quite reaching the heights of the ceviche. This is a lovely restaurant. Service was excellent, beer and wine choices were thoughtful and extensive. I would recommend it as a spot to enjoy a variety of dishes in James St.
Very easy to book online. Very nice and welcoming staff took us to our reserved table. Really nice Malbec South American wine for a change from the ever present Australian stuff. One of us had fish, one had the chicken and the other two had steak. All 4 dishes had a distinct South/Central American flavour and had side dishes and sauces I had never tasted before. Excellent food. Well cooked and delicious. Staff so friendly and service prompt. Would highly recommend this as a different Brisbane eating experience.
Had a late lunch here with my friend. We ordered tapas to share; chicken alitas, ceviche, coconut prawns, chicharron, charred corn and sweet potato chips. We really enjoyed most of the dishes, we felt that the coconut prawns was dry. Overall the dishes were delicious, the highlight dish for me was the chicken alitas and sweet potato chips! service was also very attentive. Thank you
Awesome place to enjoy excellent cocktails (highly recommend Caipirinha and Piña Colada) and an amazing Latin American food (delicious cheese bread, Chicharron, loaded Patacon and a tasty fish!!!). It is a cozy restaurant with all Caribbean flavour, the best atmosphere and very friendly staff, as well as the music. I look forward to visiting Fogata again :).

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had plenty of interesting food options, as well as drinks, with South and Central American beers available (waiter advised as not on the menu). Atmosphere was nice and live Latin music as well to create a different but nice dining experience. Definitely would recommend.
Went out for dinner on one of the rare occasions when we can get a babysitter. This means there is always pressure to pick a good restaurant. Anyway with the combination of great food, service and atmosphere it did not dissappoint. Will definitely return next time we can get a babysitter
Wow - wanted to try something a little different and the boys provided it. Well done and family friendly putting up with our 15 month old making quite the mess. The Kingfish was the pick for us but every meal was great.
Had an amazing share platter. Very lovely staff with great wine list. Keen to return to try the breakfast menu.

I've dined here twice before and can say that the food was great both timesThe staff is always pretty good.
The food was very tasty but I found it a little cold and expensive. Overall I still recommend a visit.
