I've been coming to fortune star for 20 years! the menus changed slightly in the run of time, but its still in the possession of the most friendly, most to the earth family I had the pleasure of knowing my whole life! they serve delicious, authentic Chinese dishes! their salt pfeffer huh wings are from this world. her hot acid soup always warms the soul! but my access is the veg chow fun chicken with string beans. if they're looking for their new favourite restaurant, don't look any further!
I was really disappointed during my first visit back since the pandemic, but read on! This used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant, but the quality has really declined. It was so disheartening to find that the fish in the Hong Kong chow mein was stale. I might give it one more shot before deciding not to return. Fortunately, they redeemed themselves on my next visit! I had the salt and pepper prawns, and they were absolutely delicious. My wife also enjoyed her meal very much.
I absolutely love this restaurant! The staff is friendly, and the food is incredibly delicious. Everything feels very authentic! Some of my must-try dishes include the BBQ pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, dumplings, sizzling rice soup, and hot and sour soup, along with their walnut shrimp. It's definitely a place I have to revisit!
Appetizers terrible. We were refunded but I still feel an obligation to warn folks. The main dish was edible but within a short drive from San Francisco I expect asian cuisine to be at least good. I'm speechless. So I'll stop. Advice: don't believe the ratings. The place was empty but it was around 5pm early). Book a table now
The food was excellent—fresh, hot, and perfectly seasoned without being overly salty. Although there were only two ladies managing the dining area, takeout, and DoorDash, we still received outstanding service. I'm grateful to have discovered an authentic Chinese restaurant just around the corner.
Y’all are missing out. Easily one of the best Chinese food places in San Mateo. The sauce is always good. It tastes fresh. The chowmein is our fav in town and the portions are to share or to have the next day. I don’t want them to blow up but it’s time dashed or dined in.
catering for 24 people within 48 hours. the staff was super helpful and understanding for late pickup. lady on the phone gave us a discount for large order and a crispy aubergine dish for free (which I would order again). In portions were huge and the food was delicious.
This restaurant is by far the best Chinese place ever! The waitstaff are incredibly friendly, and we've visited many times because the food is outstanding. We have a long history with this place. I would definitely give it a 100 out of 10 and highly recommend it! Book a table now
This is my childhood Chinese restaurant, which is what I compare all other Chinese food to. The schezwan beef is the best, crispy, a little sweet, and spicy; I’ve never found another like this one. Also the best chow mein, soft noodle and amazing.
