We chose to treat ourselves to Franca's Valentines special on Saturday, sort of a Valentine's 2.0. The had a prepared a special four course menu which was great no decisions to make, no stress just enjoy. The starter was a risotto ball stuffed with mozzarella covered in a tomato basil parmigiana cheese sauce wonderful. My daughter and son in law took my husband and I out for supper to celebrate our birthdays.I love Italian food but this place was better than anything Italian that I had. We started off with bruschetta, this was delicious the bruschetta was not the typical make at home type. This had amazing spices and sun dried tomatoes, the server brought us extra bread as the toppings were so much that we needed an extra bread to finish.We then tried Caesar salad and Mista salad, both were amazing, very fresh and delicious.I had chicken topped with bruschetta and chef’s choice of pasta on the side. 10/10My husband had the chicken parmigiana, delicious! Found this hidden gem ? in an industrial area and came here to celebrate a birthday on a Friday night. Our host, Alexandro (hope I got your name right) was fabulous. He gave us good recommendations of drinks and food and tells us a bit about the family-run restaurant.We ordered the Gnocchi Rose, the Linguini Scampi, and the Bistecca to share. All the food was amazing. We love the Rose sauce so much we wish there were bread to wipe the plate. For dessert, we ordered the two tiramisu (regular and Limoncello) and the Nutella cake. Franca's is a family owned restaurant from the host to the cooks. She greets all of her guests warmly and chats with each table before a family member took our drink order. We started with the imported appetizer, the burrata (freshly flown in from Italy) a feast for the eyes. The combination of creamy burrata cheese, cherry tomatoes, arugula, pesto and olive oil wrapped in a slice of focaccia bread melts in your mouth. A slight taste of salt lingers on the tongue after swallowing. The lamb chops, ribeye and palm sized prawns were made to perfection. Incredible food, incredible service!We chose Franca's for our work team's lunch catering, and despite the many last minute changes from our end, the staff were so kind, easy to work with and very accommodating.The Caesar salad, the veil lasagna and the assorted desserts were to die for!We look forward to ordering again, thank you!
This is delightful, family run Italian restaurant. We really enjoyed the food and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is pretty average, but let's face it, what's really important is the food and that's where Franca's seems to excel. We'll definitely be back.
Was in Calgary visiting family, pick Franca’s for pre Father’s Day family dinner 2023, from little kids to seniors, 15 of us. We all had a wonderful, memorable quality time. Food was prefect. When visiting Calgary, will stop by again. Thank you Franca’s.
