Time was you could sit on a comfortable sofa, eat the cakes you selected from the shop below from real china and be served delicious coffee. But as remarked below they have given up. The comfortable seating has gone, the tablecloths are covered with sheets...of glass to keep them clean, the sheets not being fixed in any way so that they spin, and judging from the jagged chips around the edges sometimes fall off the tables altogether. The cakes are still mind-blowingly excellent, but now come on disposable plastic trays accompanied by tokens for the self-service coffee maker. A horrid travesty of how it used to be. This was a major disappointment of our recent trip.
We were staying at Jardins d'Hardelot up the street where the breakfast is per person....here we could get breakfast for all four of us for the price of one at the hotel. Super friendly staff, great selection of delicious pastries in a bright, clean...and modern shop. Recommended. We sat at benches at the window and lucky for us everyone was taking away there is only limited seating.
So I didn't actually in the café, but I wasn't sure what the option was buying cakes! If you are in Boulogne, take some time out to visit Fred's. Their baking and patisserie is excellent. Slightly more expensive than standard bakers but cakes are well...worth it. There is a wide choice, but come early if you want to get it. Particularly on a Sunday when it's queuing out of the door!

Some of the deals for cakes or pastries and coffee here are tremendous value and the selection of sweet and savoury snacks is mouthwatering. Sadly I only had half a lemon tarte which I shared with my wife but would have eaten anything on display.. delicious!

We bought some delicious cakes, pastries and biscuits from this place. It was great for pudding and everything was delicious and very good quality
