It's hard finding straight coffee shops in France. This one is a chain I found out (I saw one in Blois also), but small -- the owner said maybe 50 in all of France. The shop has a very nice cozy feel about it. And, the owner was a very very nice guy. I drink nothing but mochas, and the ones here were pretty good -- not as good as my favorite back in Austin, but ne'ertheless, very acceptable.Beware -- I noticed they put a lot of whipped cream on the drinks. Be sure to tell them if you don't want it or don't want so much.
I find the French seem to like 'light and lively' (i.e. acidic) coffee. Not here! Nicely balanced and well-crafted coffees abound! I had a small americano, my partner a mocha. Both were very good, needing no sugar. They didn't have fat-free or reduced-fat milk, but the barista asked if we wanted the whipped cream removed, which is how the mocha is typically made.The establishment was well-furnished and clean, and the service friendly. We plan to return for another fix tomorrow!
Took refuge for some refreshment, not table service, but sort of self service, place your order and wait to be called to collect, sort of transport cafe style service. Coffee served in disposable containers, and in our instance slightly wrong sizes, despite the orders being written on the cups.That said, products were excellent, and priced on a par with other places we tried, in short, full of potential, but akin to a drinks to go with tables.
Great coffee great service. After 2,5 weeks I finally found a great spot where they have very good cappuccino. Besides the owner (or the one who helped me was really nice. He even remembered my name and what I ordered the day before! So when you are in Saumur for a coffee and a snack or lunch, go to French Coffee Shop

Saumur isn't short of cafes but this is my favourite. By the second visit the barrista remembered our names! Good coffee, freshly squeezed juices and cakes. Spotless and fully disabled toilet too. Recommended.
As an American, this was the place that had the best American style coffee - think Starbucks but much better quality. Nice, relaxed environment as well, right in the center of town.
I'm not sure what to say about this place other than, nice staff terrible coffee. Their idea of Cappuccino is coffee with Squirty cream on top. Absolutely ghastly.
You may roll your eyes, but for those of us looking for American coffee (think Starbucks but way better) this is the place to visit. Wonderful speciality coffees.
