I have visited this cheesy place in Summer and also when it was snowing in September. Both times were memorable for the views and the mountain experience. Try the Moitié-Moitié fondue, Half Half made from 2 cheeses (Gruyère Vacherin), or taste the creamier...Vacherin Fribourgoise Fondue. There is a demonstration of Artisan cheese making: it is authentic, but slow food, as good food production will be! The cheese sold here is made by slow peasants from the freshly milked local cows. I never noticed grumpy staff, but I can imagine the visitors upsetting the inhabitants! The factory demonstration down near the Gruyère station is showing the modern reality.

while we go to the gruyere for fondue, the piousness was an authentic experience in the outdoor alpen restaurant. fondue was light, dried meat well represented and fondue was beautiful and attentive. it helped us to have eaten all the place to ourselves on a weekday! they see they have weeks of brunettes. a great place to lunch when they go next door in the sled!

we hiked the hill from the parking lot (only a few minutes) to the piousry. we were late for the tour but stayed for wonderful fondue and other local tasty. while we were finished on the small terrace, a farmer brought her kite. on the hills to graze. it was a pretty scene and we have made a great video with all action and **** bells.
