We visited Garde Manger the first night we stayed in Montreal and it was great! At first, I wasn't sure about making a reservation to sit at the bar but that was the only option. We were pleasantly surprised mostly because of the awesome bartender, Sam. He was so attentive, helpful, funny, and genuinely nice. Once we sat down, he introduced himself (including a handshake) and explained how things worked. He recommended a seafood platter app since they are known for seafood and it did not disappoint. We got a few oysters, half lobster, and two fish crudos. Their menu changes I assume since it was on a chalkboard in the restaurant. Both entrees were delicious. Back to Sam. he also made excelle...
On a whim we went here at opening to see if we could slip in for a quick supper despite there being no tables available online.We were told we could certainly do so if we could assure the table being returned in an hour and and a half.As one family member needed to,get to,a plane we said we could be out earlier if they could get us out. The service was extremely friendly, prompt and led to our best meal in Montreal. Wife had Halibut and remarked best she has ever eaten.We can't speak,highly enough about our experience.
Where do I begin? If you can find it, eat here! Ask for Alessandro, eat what he recommends, drink what he suggests, you'll enjoy every minute. Or, do it on your own (pick from the ambitious and versatile menu on the chalk board behind [1/2] you,) either way you'll end up very, very happy. The food is incredible, the atmosphere (and service) easily matched the very high expectations we had for this place. This is a dining EXPERIENCE. Going back tomorrow and Thursday.
Never fails to impress. The four course tasting meal was beautiful. The number of plates, the variety from seafood appetizer to desert, memorable meal. I am not a desert person, but since it appeared as part of the menu, had to give it a try, and then could not stop eating it, truly decadent and delicious. With so many fine dining options in the old port, Garde Manger still holds its place as one of the best. Book a table now
Very seafood focused- it was an enjoyable meal. We originally had 5:30 bar reservations but the host said if we were out by 7, he'd give us a table. We had a wonderful server-very friendly and attentive. I did order their crab leg **** mary which was ok. Too bad they didn't offer a wine pairing along with the chef's menu.
Alejandro was our waiter and he was excellent! The food and ambiance were also perfect. We ordered the seafood special appetizer and then pretty much the whole menu. The halibut and pork were both standout entrees. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This restaurant is great. We love sea-food. Their oysters were delicious. Their ceasar was perfect. Go there without doubt. But don't forget to book one week ago. The service was very friendly.
I used to love watching 'Chuck's Day Off' (I think that's what it was called) so when hotel concierge was able to get a last minute table on Saturday I Book a table now
I had been curious to visit Garde Manger for a while because of the Chuck Hughes connection, and my wife and I used to watch a lot of Food Network.
