The goose season in Vienna was in full swing, and we wanted to try some. Of course, a lot of places recommended by friends were booked solid, so we ended up picking one of the top five restaurants on some obscure Austrian site (I don’t...remember exactly, but it was something like „wurstel.com“ don’t take me literally, please). And we didn’t regret it! “Wild” is a very unpretentious looking place wooden tables, simple chairs, no fancy decor, but the goose we ordered was excellent! It was not overcooked, yet crispy; it was served with a delicate sauce and orange slices, and even the cabbage it was served with was not your usual coarse cabbage, but something else. We always visit Wild while in Vienna. It’s a classic Beisl with updates. The ingredients are of a high quality, the atmosphere casual and cozy with lot’s of locals and unlike some Beisels it has a very good wine list (almost all Austrian). The food...is Austrian classic with some minor updates including vegetarian options and lighter dishes. The fillet of beef is a good choice as is game in season. My wife enjoyed a pork leg with apricot puree and apples (and potatoes) that was delicious. It’s a festive place. Service may appear initially perfunctory but is kind and good.
This was recommended to us by an Austrian tour guide we asked her where we could get some good Austrian food. Initially we thought we were not going to be able to find seats but we did. It was maybe 7:30pm when we got...there and it was rather busy. We both got schnitzel which came with a kind of potato salad, so not fries. It was all very tasty and above all, fresh. You can tell that they work with fresh ingredients and that food is made to order. Really nice outdoor ambience with soft lighting; we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there.
We ate outside on the large terrace, which was really appreciable. The lamb goulash and the schnitzel were great. They had a few nice beers on tap. The service was fine and we did not wait too long for the food. Their menu changes often...which is usually a proof of quality. The price was OK.

We aimed for another place to eat, but as it was closed, we ended up here. It was full when we arrive but the waiter found a table for us. The staff was very attractive, and the food was good. I went for a soup...and my son for duck, both were happy with the choice.

It had a strong older atmosphere. Overall quite nice. The food was good (schnitzel and goulash). Beer was satisfactory. The staff we airtight. We did feel welcome here and the prices were not that bad. Recommend!
Good traditional fare at reasonable prices. Not much English spoken but perhaps we take that for granted too much. There is an English menu though.
