Along with the Off Short Pier fish restaurant across the street, Genes is a definite must if you have an urge for fried fish. I highly recommend the mixed seafood dinner. Some people have complained that the portions are too small. Well not this meal. You get fried clams, shrimp, scallops and haddock. Along with fries and coleslaw. I was definitely full after this meal and it was delicious. It hit the spot. Genes has been in business for a very long time. They are opened seasonally, and close labor day weekend. They do have burgers, chicken tenders etc. I never had those, but I noticed the burgers are sliders. If you are a hardy eater, just order a few. Genes also has shakes and ice cream.

Went here last Friday. I wanted to say that I love this place. The food was excellent. I especially loved the fish frys. I have missed coming here and I am glad that I have come back. Will be coming here again soon. They are the best place to get a fish fry. Would recommend that you go there yourself. You won't regret it. Thank you to all to the staff who do an excellent job there. Thank you

Parking: Parking can be a challenge during busy times along with turning into the business. This visit instead of having two fish fries I tried the haddock fingers. The portion was huge and my new go to. Why eat a bun when you can have the delicious fish. They are closed for the season and counting the days until next year's opening. Service: Take out Meal type: Lunch

The place is an institution. The food is good quality. The fries taste like they are made from russet potatoes. Haddock is great. Clams are tender. Onion rings are a treat. And I always get a mocha shake. Friendly people and no wait if you get there early. Nice picnic tables and pretty hanging baskets of flowers. Book a table now

I’m eagerly anticipating the opening of Gene's. I’m not sure where the critics are coming from, but every dish I tried was fantastic. No one else serves fries or onion rings quite like Gene's. Your tartar sauce is the best I’ve ever tasted. To the critics, maybe keep your opinions to yourselves. Thank you!

Figured I’d try this place out but honestly it’s not that impressive. Soggy breading and soft mushy un seasoned fish. Teds is way better. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Recommended dishes: Fish Fry and Fries, Fish Fry with a Side of Colslaw, Fish and Chips

A classic spot in Albany (located in East Greenbush). The scallop reels are outstanding—some of the best I've had outside of the Cape. They have a similar taste to the shells. It's affordable, quick, and convenient for a meal on the go. I recommend going early, around 7 or 8.

This is a classic spot to enjoy a delicious burger or fish roast. The portions are on the smaller side, so it’s best to consider it more of a snack than a full meal. Keep in mind that they're only open for the season, so be sure to visit before summer ends. Well done! Book a table now
