This was my second visit, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The prices are reasonable, and they offer darts, foosball, pool, and a few other games. If you're in search of a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place for you. The only downside was that ordering at the bar was a bit confusing, as there was an "order spot" that didn't really serve that purpose. However, it wasn't a major issue, and we still managed to get our drinks!
This is your basic, essential diving bar, but with great food and atmosphere. The carving was melted in your mouth and the bevel dogs had the right amount of Zing. Drinks were excellent and a strong distribution. We're back. Charleston has great 5-star restaurants, but you can spend a ton. We also have great bars with great food and FUN. Gene is one of the best of this genre.
This place is so cool, oldest in Charleston, SC. Started with the Artichoke Di and Pita Chips- AMAZING, Crawfish Salad with a sweet Jalapeño Dressing- I was very nervous about the dressing hot, but it wasn't hot at all, there was only a jalapeño taste. Buffalo Ranch Salad. And had really cool artworks next to the building.
Beer selection was much better than the atmosphere of the bar would you believe, and the regular were friendly to us, although not from the area. Unfortunately, things are somewhat in vain as the last part of our visit was, which is perhaps the best vote of confidence I can give. Book a table now
Gene has been a basic attitude for years. Over the years it has still kept itself and has not changed. Nice Charleston Bar to meet some locals in a place where you can decide to eat in one of the surrounding restaurants and then stop to finish your good night by doing it better.
I'm new to West Ashley, it my first time here, we went on a Friday night. Great atmosphere, fun friendly staff, quick service and food. They have a selection of board games, fooseball, darts and more. I ordered the corndogs were awesome! Looking forward to coming here again.

Best dive bar in town. Sunday brunch huevos rancheros are amazing! House made chili on the chili dogs. The food is all great. Huge beer selection.
