Genki Ya is the best restaurant in Davis Square! Very healthy and affordable food. I lived near Little Tokyo in Los Angeles for decades and was elected to the local neighborhood council in the district. I haven't had Japanese food that's this good since I left Los Angeles. I especially love the broccoli (the sauce is very unique) and the salmon (perfectly cooked crispy outside and tender inside). Quiet and relaxing environment with Hawaiian style music playing all the time. Extremely kind, compassionate and friendly owner and staff. I ordered from their website and when they delivered the food, the delivery person CALLED me and demanded for tips. He was basically harassing me, demanding me that I tipped him more so I called the restaurant hoping they’d help me resolve thesituation. Instead of being sympathetic of my situation and understanding that this is NOT OKAY at all for any delivery personto do, the restaurant did not take any action and still asked if I was going to tip the person or not. I have never experiencedthis at all with any food delivery services. They should know that it is never okay for any delivery person to harass theircustomers to demand for more tips.

Ordered something small and was told to wait for 15min. We decided to walk around instead of waiting there (we never said it?s for takeout though). When we came back, we wanted to sit at the table outside but they already packed our food and said that was for dine-in only. The restaurant was pretty empty that time, but we ended up finding somewhere else to eat. Rolls were somewhat generic compared to normal sushi buffet.
This is my favorite Japanese restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is as well. They deserve a much higher rating.Vegetarian options: Really excellent vegetarian options and a fairly extensive Japanese curry menu as well.
Nice decor and staffs are polite. Good selection of sushi. But choices for entrees are not a lot and prices are a bit pricey. Ordered shrimp and vegetables tempura, seafood tempura roll, and triple torch roll. The maki are pretty good.
My favorite sushi spot in the area? They offer innovative rolls, fresh fish, and the best vegetarian options around! I particularly love the Sweetie Roll for veggie lovers and the Luxury Roll for seafood enthusiasts!

I am always trying sashimi restaurants. This is now at the top of my list! I had the appetizer sashimi plate and it was delicious. I will revisit this place! Nice location on the corner in bustling Davis Square!
Sushi was good, but a bit overpriced. Drinks seemed like they had no alcohol in them. Service was rather unenthusiastic. Not a bad place but probably won't return soon
