Our last walk of the year on the 30th Dec 2023, resulted in us having a small refreshment stop here. We were warmly welcomed, upon entering this gem of a traditional pub. The menu looked to be a great choice of the usual pub food. I'll note here that there's a large selection of pies. Which included their Festive December Pie. We weren't hungry on this occasion so chose their basket food, which was reasonably priced and arrived quickly. The rest room facilities were clean and tidy, and I'll note the men's was larger than most for this area. A queue for these would be a rare thing I'd say. In summary a cosy atmosphere, and warm unlike many pubs I've visited recently. I am looking forward to a...

This charming pub has a rich history. Our group all enjoyed various pies, including chicken, beef and Stilton, and beef and ale. We each paid £22 for a pie and a ginger beer. The pastry was delicious and the filling had the perfect ratio of meat to gravy. Despite the empty pub and the quiet music playing in the background, the atmosphere was lacking due to it being a quiet lunchtime. The staff were friendly and the restaurant had child and baby friendly amenities.

A cosy oldé pub in a pretty nook of Kent. We originally tried the pub over the road but the wait for food was over an hour. The staff here could not have been more friendly or helpful to accommodate our family of 4. The food was excellent, in particular the proper pies (no pastry lid fakes here! . My pint of Sussex was superb, although it would have been nice to have a few more local ale options to choose from. Delightful.

The food at this restaurant for my mom's 80th birthday was terrible. It was actually embarrassing, to be honest. It seemed like they just pulled leftovers from the fridge and served it to us. There were no sandwiches, only stale rolls. The potato salad was like slop and no one wanted to eat it. This was probably the worst food spread I have ever seen in a pub. I would not recommend this place. Book a table now

Stopped here on the off chance after visiting Down House. Everybody was really friendly, the food was excellent. I would highly recommend the pies. We went on a Sunday but didn't fancy a roast although they looked amasing too. We quite often do hikes and I think we would make sure the route would go via this venue,

Travelled to Downe to visit this pub as it was highly recommended only to find out it is CLOSED! Very disappointed! Please update your opening hours to avoid disappointment for others!

I have been going to this pub for years when in the area. The Sunday lunch is an absolute steal with buffet style accompaniments all homemade and really good quality.

Nice cosy place next to the Christmas Tree Farm. The food was okay and the place is suitable for babies and kids. Book a table now
