TL/DR: bland, ‘old’ food. interesting history. sits on magnificent castle grounds. not worth the price. the service team adheres to old ideas and traditions that are incompatible with the needs of modern culinary experience. let me admit a few things: 1) I am an american and because of our history, I have developed a more sensitive radar to recognize when my white privileg and colonialism are put on a sockel. 2) I don't know much about the history there, why certain traditions were received at george w, and I don't pretend I know how the personal feels there. staying in ashford castle is a special occasion that calls for a special culinary experience, and george w lives in it. after having eaten in adare manor’s oak room just a few days before, I would say that george w deserves the Michelin star more than the oak room.

Don’t sit in the bar area as the management/staff carry on as if there are no customers in view. Noise, chatting, inappropriate behaviour and being unprofessional sum up the carry on throughout our time dining.
The food was extraordinary. Some of the best I have tasted to date. That coupled with an exceptional experience and really attentive staff. I would definitely dine there again soon.
