Glut Food Co-op Market

Glut saved my life as a homeless person during the early 90's. I came to DC from the South where I was accustomed to picking my veggies from the ground. I was dismayed that there was still is a tremendous gulf between who could eat well who couldn't. Eating well was much better for my body mind/spirit. During the 90's Glut had many great volunteers who were activists I began to think of food (or lack thereof) as a profoundly political thing. I became an ardent recycler. In a city like DC, where many people are transient, GLUT has the right idea. It is as structured as any traditional Co-Ob. There is a huge selection of bulk material dry and liquid, as well as a wide selection of dried fresh fruits. You have local milk and cheese that is hard to find in DC. Basically, it is all the amenities that a conscious eater could ever want, but they realize that you are bot here forever and not charge fees for membership. Prices are not only appropriate for a special market, they are also only good for DC in general. Not much parking is possible by bike or take the G8 on Rhode Island.
