If i could put zero stars i would. My family and I ordered from Golden Choice tonight and quite frankly, i'm disappointed that i am forced to leave a star. We ordered sweet & sour pork, honey chicken and fried rice with a bag of prawn chips. Where do i begin... SWEET SOUR PORK: Whoever the chef is needs to understand that he/she is not dishing up anything close to S&S pork.The pork was overcooked, the batter was bland and the sauce resembled something like a yellow curry. 1/10. HONEY CHICKEN: It was cut like lemon chicken should be, which is great.. except it's not lemon chicken. Just finished eating at our favourite Chinese restaurant for the past 7 years. I had heard various reports about bad service and mediocre food and even read reviews on Facebook and trip adviser, but ignored them all.. This couldn't be about our lovely local Chinese! Anyway 5 of us went there this evening. Service was shocking, unbelievably slow. One of the "waitresses" was about 12 and running around in a pair of cat ears on her head. All meals came out so far apart that we were all essentially eating alone. My lemon chicken was lukewarm, other meals were "average". Very disappointed and when I told the waitress.. Also about 17 yrs old that I was not happy,she said "sorry about that" gave me...
This was our first and unfortunately last time dining at this restaurant. The food was good, but it was difficult to enjoy our meal due to the constant sound of the chef verbally abusing the waiter, making it hard to have a conversation. This continued throughout the entire meal. As we were paying our bill, the waiter looked like she was on the verge of tears. It was not a pleasant experience and not something we want to hear while trying to enjoy our dinner.
Sincerely, all agreed, probably the worst/amateurish Fried Rice ever served! The Sweet & Sour Pork was sincerely Sweet & Sour Car Tyre/offul, have done better myself with KanTong & Woolies Pork! Honey Chicken was so dry, no flavour, no sauce whatsoever! Used to eat Chinese 3-4 times a week, then moved back to Ormea! Will never bother again, progressively nosed dived over last year or so, could not lower their standards any lower other than close their doors!

We have tried this restaurant on many occassions, to give them the benefit of time. Each time it has been slow and the food average. It has potential to be super, the servers are fast and pleasant, they have live music on the weekends and its great but the food served up is stodgy and bland; and its not pleasant to hear the owner / manager yelling at staff at times. Shame, but prefer to cook at home.
We have been getting our Chinese takeaway from this restaurant for the past 5 years because we find that the food here is so good and tasty.Last night was the first time we ate in the restaurant. I can highly recomend one of the banquet meals, where you will have a generous amount of good quality food with friendly service for less than $25 per person.
Don't bother even trying it. So disappointing - and there are much nicer places to eat in Ormeau. The Thai at Thai River Kwai is excellent and the staff understand about customer service. Skip the indigestion and aggravstion from Golden Choice and try the Thai instead - or drive a bit further
The food at this restaurant is amazing and the customer service is excellent. The staff is quick and friendly, and the meals are delicious. The chef is fantastic as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.
