While the ‘star’ rating concept has been a nostalgic way of ascertaining certain expectations of hotels and/or accommodations, more than often it is a price versus expectance skirmish. Unfortunately, it is increasingly more often that the expectations side loses. Simply said: a high price does not guarantee a fulfillment of expectations. I was about to met a friend I haven't seen in 10 years in the favorite place of my sister and her husband, the Goldstück in Recklinghausen, Germany. My sister told me much about this place but when I walked in I was a bit disappointed. I knew it was small, but this small...? The friendly welcome quickly blew the fist disappointment away. The nice and tasteful interior of the bar make you feel at home rather quick. Warm light throughout the bar, never too dark. The menu is not too extensive but all items seem carefully selected and everything seems to be something special.
