We had a reservation for a Sunday night.Our table was nice, though the AC was quite strong.We decided to take the menu (they have food a la carte and three different menues) and decided for a bottle of white wine, which they didn't have. We ordered another bottle of white wine, which they also didn't have. So far, so bad. The third bottle, they finally managed to serve us...The first course was very nice, the portions were just right. After the pretty disappointing start, we were pleased again and ready for our main course.... which took an hour to reach us..no apology, no discount whatsoever. Probably an unfair night to review anything in France as, being a Sunday evening, and the Big Match I was lucky to find anywhere serving food! Needless to say, all the seats facing the television were taken but being "neutral" I was happy to face away. As can be imagined, there was plenty of atmosphere, inside and outside, and, given minds otherwise occupied, I had a pleasant meal. Nothing spectacular, neither cheap nor expensive and served by friendly staff who, although busy, keeping other patrons lubricated and with a third eye on the television, kept my meal going. Three courses plus two thirds of a bottle of wine and I was walking back to the hotel by half-time! Looking through the bunt...
Came here as it was very close to the hotel, outside was busy, but Midges were everywhere so went in, waiters were extremely busy, but seemed nice enough. I had pasta, hubs, which looked like a calf carving with pasta and sauce. He liked... it was okay, wine was expensive as they recommend the 34€ bottle, so I said no and we went for separate glasses. (I'm not cheap, but let's be honest, it won't add so much to an average restaurant) Bread was stale but sometimes that happened tho I would recommend not cut the bread until used Gran Torino!! We arrived around 22 hrs. at Chambery and after cheking in in our hotel near the train station we went out for food. Saddly everyplace we went downtown was closed, until we found Grand Torino. It was open at full service. They have a wide variety in their menu but we of course tried their pizza and pasta. It was great. Service is excellent. They make feel at home. Want to to come back. Having been travelling all day we arrived late in the evening and where able to get a good table on the pavement terrace. Having recognised our state of hunger the service was swift and very helpful, good choices on the menu and a wide range of drinks. We had a varied range of food ordered from pizza, burgers and steaks all where well served and hearty portions.
Near the station, good quality, not expensive... Been stuck in Chambery cause of strikes, went to Gran Torino with 2 Mates and had a **** ripe time! The food was good, the wine too! And the waiters were so smiling and nice...! Especially Stephen and Basten, we will surely come back for dinner or even arvo for a few Bevvies as they also Happy hours 6pm to 8pm
We had a lovely evening meal here with our 3 children en route to Italy. I had a delicious risotto with grilled prawns. Location a little unprepossessing on the corner of a main road but once eating in the courtyard this is forgotten. Large smart interior. Would definitely eat here again.
Dined this evening, had a nice local white wine and two different salads and dessert. Personnel very polite and helpful. Both wine and fiid excellent. Nice interior. Good value for money. Book a table now
Dishes and deserts are really tasty. But service was very slow, it took 2 hours so you better not be in a hurry.
