Went yet again to give this place a chance to redeem itself from my last visit. Oh my, the staff are so rude, it brinks on pure arrogance, only 3 to our table, main dishes arrive, portions ridiculously small … only two dishes .. sat waiting for the 3rd …waiter/arrogant owner comes over to ask “why we not eating?’ , because not everyone has a meal? .. and basically this arrogant individual shouts “eat ! ! “ I replied “no ..when we eat ,then we eat together, “. We wanted a Chinese take away and decided to try the Great Wall rather than the one up the road in the hope that it would be better quality food. A big mistake it was awful, the stuffed crab claws were hard and chewy we left them. The chow mein was so dry I'm not sure what they'd done to it, I'm thinking it might have been cooked and left on the side it looked awful. The duck dish looked unappetising and was over cooked and tough. This restaurant is far more expensive than your local takeaway we might as well have thrown £35 away which is a lot for two people. We won't return.
We have used Gt Wall since living in Rochford for the last 18 months. We usually order the same meal as we know what we like. Tonight I'm wondering if the chef has changed? The shrimp curry was far too spicy and fiery, the sweet and sour sauce was thin and not the usual taste and the Chow Mein was very dry. Very disappointing. Viv. Meal type: Dinner
This restaurant is a must in the area. I visited with my girlfriend and we were met by the owner, Michael. He couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We were very impressed by the food and the service. Would definitely recommend to my friends family. The Satay chicken starter especially was superb. Thanks to the Great Wall for a great evening!

This is a fantastic Chinese restaurant. The food was excellent tonight, particularly the Singapore rice noodles that had a mild flavor, and the Yangzhou fried rice that was very flavorful. It was the best takeaway I have had in Rockford. The service was for takeout and the meal was for dinner. The price per person was between £50-£60.
My wife and I had a meal here a few months ago. Very friendly staff, all dishes were freshly prepared and tasty. If it were a little closer to home we would use it more often. That said we will make a point of going back at some point soon.
Consistently amazing, with delicious food and excellent service. We had dinner and the price per person was £100+. The food quality was top-notch, service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was lovely. A 5-star experience all around.
