We were in search of a unique coffee shop and Greys seemed to fit the bill. Upon entering, we had to be cautious not to hit a gentleman sitting inside as the space was extremely tight. The place was incredibly cramped, with some tables being unusable due to lack of space. We eventually managed to find a seat, surrounded by the remnants of the previous customers. Despite sitting for a while, no staff member acknowledged us or came to take our order or clear the table. Just as we were considering ordering at the counter ourselves, the lone staff member left the premises. After waiting for some time, we ultimately decided to give up and leave.
Grey's and the New Inn are hidden gems that deserve more recognition. They are not overly fancy but could work on improving their reputation. The staff member was decent, but could be more enthusiastic. The cream tea was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. It's a great value and a peaceful retreat in the city. Unfortunately, the toilets were dirty and lacked basic amenities like soap. It seems they may be having trouble hiring staff, but I would still come back for another visit.
During my visit to town, I decided to stop by this charming and historic coffee shop. The waitress who served me was very friendly and polite when I ordered a pot of tea. Although they had snacks and food available, I only took a short break and sat in the courtyard under an umbrella due to the rainy weather that day. This coffee shop is truly memorable because of its quaint atmosphere. Book a table now
We sat in the courtyards on a beautiful sunny morning, surrounded by hsnging baskets, the coffee shop is attached to New Inn a very old coaching inn, there was choice of 5 home made cakes, difficult to choose 2 coffees abd two slices of cake £5 which we thought was very good vslue.
Popped into this tiny little coffee shop attached to The New Inn. Lovely welcome and good service from the lady running it. Nice coffee but the selection of herbal and fruit teas was very depleted. Very different from the usual Costa and Starbucks. Prices reasonable.
Great little find after a disappointing lunch elsewhere. Great offer for coffee and cake for £5 per couple. Nice hot coffee and fresh and tasty cake, lovely lady who serves the customers. Great atmosphere, would recommend.

Simple unpretentious food in the coffee shop part of the historic New Inn. A bit cramped but more than compensated for by the friendly waitress and the quality and quantity of the food. Good value for money
