We visited this restaurant a couple of years ago when staying across the road at IBIS. We had a good experience so decided to come again as on a similar journey heading to the Alps. The location is good to break up the long journey. IBIS also gave us a 15% discount voucher to use in here which was good. It was busy and they told us we would have 30mins wait but actually has us seated in under 10mins. This was a relief after driving all day and being tired. We needed refuelling and some chill out time. Service was friendly and whilst our waitress seemed new to the job she was helpful and quick. We normally travel a long way to get to the country when on vacation. Curiously enough it's not easy to find a good place to eat in France when on the road. And no, you can't settle for a fast food restaurant as they are notoriously bad. It was this lack of options that made us try this restaurant. It's is part of a chain found all over France and something we'd normally avoid. I am happy to report this is one exception to the rule. Setting I imagine is as any of the hundreds of other Courtepailles, but service was very good and food was excellent. It's very easy to go wrong with a steak and a hamburger but these guys nailed it. If ever on this part of the world and feeling hungry, worry not...
I was disappointed that they first brought my stake as rare when I had ordered medium . If they were to tell you the cooking when they bring you the food, you could correct them before cutting into it. The y no longer off salmon steaks or fillet of lamb, both of which I remember enjoying years ago. the jacket potatoes are as good as ever.
We stayed at IBIS and came for dinner with the family. Good variety and great service. We also got an additional 15% discount from the total bill for being at IBIS.
