There are several well-known Greek restaurants in the area, but I was in search of a quick bite when I stumbled upon Gyro World. I was aware of what to expect. I ordered the halloumi platter, which came with a generous amount of food—grilled halloumi, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, and a choice of soup or salad. I found the avgolemono soup to be unnecessarily salty and lacking in lemon flavor. Luckily, the platter included a lemon wedge, which helped improve the soup and the lemon potatoes. Well visited place. Took out two lamb gyro sandwiches with all “toppings” on 4 pm, when the store was empty. They prepped the sandwiches within 10 minutes. Size is good, meat was a bit salty and fatty, but that’s often the case. The salad was not dressed and there were tomato pieces worth one slice on it. The raw red onions were thinly sliced, but unfortunately very pungent and dominant. We sorely missed the tsatsiki on the sandwiches. I didn’t think that it should be necessary to ask for it again. All in all, it was a underwhelming gyro sandwich, although the freshness and quality was definitely ok. But it didn’t hold up in the taste department.
The customer service was terrible. I would advise against ordering directly from them, especially for larger groups. We placed a significant order for work and ended up missing two items. When we called to inquire about the missing items, they repeatedly put us on hold and refused to either send the missing items or issue a refund. They implied that we were lying about the missing items, stating, "The cook said he cooked everything and packed it." I believe there are better options in Astoria where you can expect superior customer service.
My Greek family introduced me to this restaurant, and they frequently order from there. That alone says a lot. They serve some of the best gyros I've ever had. The souvlaki is delightful, and if you haven't tried squeezing lemon over it, you really should—you're missing out! I also love the tzatziki. Everything here is just fantastic.

Very nice staff. The owner advised us well on our choice.The chicken burger was excellent, as was the Caesar salad chicken wrap, the beef platter and the porcgyro lunch box.Delicious food. Therefore 5 stars!
Every time I visit New York, I make it a point to get my gyro fix at this place. The portions are always generous, and the food is consistently fresh with great flavor.
By far not the best Gyros in the neighborhood, but the Beef and Lamb Gyro just hits a nostalgic note.
