I just had dinner here with my family. I ordered the hot spicy beef soup. Upon first sniff I was met with a horrid rotten fish scent. The taste was god awful. My family described it as the same, even with a dirty rag smell. I hesitated, but I did ask for this to be fixed. The owner did not seem to believe me, and questioned it, and did not say much of anything else. The waitress offered to bring a different soup to which I said yes to the suggestion. Then, she offered another stew which confused me. She brought me the second one for some reason. I was so disgusted by the first bowl of soup that I could not enjoy my night with my family. I would rate the food higher, but the service really disappointed me. While I'm used to slow service, it was frustrating to try to get the waitstaff's attention for water refills. When we asked for a refill of the banchan, the waitress claimed they were out, which clearly wasn't true since other diners were receiving it. It would have been more straightforward for her to say that refills aren’t provided instead of being pretentious about it. This experience left a sour impression, and I won't be coming back.
It’s been about 2 years since I’ve been here…seems there was an ownership change since the food was different and decor updated. For me this was between a 3 and 4 star. Food taste wise, I would give it a 3 because the pork back stew was bland. This used to be their specialty and so flavourful. But now it was bland and watery. The boiled pork belly was also a bit bland. The extra star to give it a 4 star was the value. We got a set menu for $65 and so much food for 4 people.
Got food poisoned from eating their (raw) oysters and it was pretty bad that I had to go to hospital. Otherwise food tastes good and is relatively cheap. Severely understaffed. Nothing is said or done after I told them about the food poisoning instance, hence one star (I rated them two stars earlier).

Wow, that was absolutely delicious! After living in NYC and LA, my biggest complaint about Chicago has been the quality of Korean restaurants. Yes, they can be quite casual and the service is just okay, but the food is on par with what you'd find in those pricier cities! I'm definitely coming back!
The food was quite good, but the service left much to be desired. Our waitress was rude and dismissive when we asked for assistance. Additionally, the service was slow, and we had to repeatedly request things before they were taken care of.
delicious, authentic, very traditional Korean dishes. the owners are beautiful and on the ball. I love their bossam the best, but really all the dishes are delicious! the cod-fishing stone is fresh and spicy and one of the best in the city.

My friend and I wanted to check it out thinking it was korean BBQ. It was a pleasant surprise to find out it was a hot pot place. Will definitely come back in the winter.
