I was in Phillip shopping and called in here at Only staff member visible and when I asked about the blackboard lunch item I was told that the kitchen was closed and I could only choose from the pre made wraps and repeatable...pies etc. Not impressed. I have called in here a few times in the past couple of years mostly for nostalgia about the bustling coffee chocolate and nut shop that it was. There is still a good range of coffees for purchase but it is filled with over priced gift items now and the food options have become smaller. Go next door to Lava for friendlier service and great food.
My mother and myself have been Purchasing ground coffee here for years. Approx. each monthly. During my last visit I was charged an extra because I wanted the coffee in gram bags and was told that I should have been charged...this every time I’ve been purchasing coffee there for years sometimes I split it in bags or bags. Working it out we have purchased well over worth of coffee beans there in the past years alone. I was told that the paper bags are expensive. If they want to make profit from paper bags and charge for them that’s fine but we will take out $ and buy our beans elsewhere.
Went for lunch with friends. Worse service ever had. Chef is running meals instead of cooking them. Young girl on coffee machine wouldn't even acknowledge me when I was waiting at the till to be served, she then yells at other staff to serve. On...the till then take the coffees she had made while she then stood there. Place has alot of potential but customer service is lacking and your chef should be in cooking people's meals not running them, young kids everywhere clearing tables etc utilise them. On a plus note coffee was hot, bitter but hot and food was nice when it finely made it
I wanted to organise a delivery of Easter chocolates to our family in Canberra as we of course can’t get together this year. I found Hansel and Gretel Coffee House online and not only did they have a great range to choose from, but they...offered free same day delivery! By mid afternoon I had a photo of the bag of goodies being held by the smiling recipients! Fantastic service and so easy to arrange! We’ll have to visit when we are next in Canberra!

I go regularly for fresh ground coffee to order from a range of coffee types – both blends and single origin. Consistent and reliable. The also do meals including breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Plus they have a bewildering array of imported confectionary, specialty teas and...other items which provide a source of gifts. Staff are always changing but don't know why always new faces!
Just a great stop in while a wait for my car to be fixed. Event though Hansel Gretel is on the Main Street in Phillip it’s a hidden cafe that clearly has its regulars! I had a great coffee (didn’t need to add sugar...or ask for milk) and a tasty and filling serve of Cinnamon Toast! Just superb! Thankyou.
I love Hansel and Gretel. Great chai; great atmosphere. Eggs Benedict not good: soggy bread; too much sauce. Need to benchmark against best practice: Mulligans in Tuggeranong. Great place for unusual knick knacks and chocolates.
Never disappoints great coffee relaxed atmosphere easy parking. Regularly meet colleagues for meetings as it is a conversation location. Grab a chocolate treat at the same time
