"Not very familiar with the Cannington area, we stumbled upon a small restaurant in what seemed like a half industrial/commercial building. Despite everything else being closed for the day, this restaurant was bustling with people. The Kung Pao chicken was excellent and could easily rival that of Dainty Sichuan in Melbourne. We couldn't finish all of our food, so we asked for takeaway containers which the staff carefully packed to prevent any spills on our way home. We are now excited to try out the Karawara and Victoria Park locations."

Authentic is a bit of an overused word, but if you are in Perth in Western Australia and need a fix of REAL Szechuan food the HAO CHI ZUI SZECHUAN is truly authentic - something that is very hard to find in Western Australia. Recently I was living in China on and off for a few years and developed a taste (almost an addiction) for very spicy Szechuan cuisine. I despaired of finding it in Australia until I found the Hao Chi Zui - it is small and out of the way, with only a few tables, almost like a café, and usually packed with Chinese and a constant stream of more of them picking up takeaways. You can get Western favourites like Kung Pao Chicken, but I homed in on the Boiled Beef in Hot Chill...

If you are in Perth, Western Australia and craving authentic Szechuan cuisine, look no further than Hao Chi Zui Szechuan. I recently lived in China and developed a taste for spicy Szechuan dishes, which I struggled to find in Australia until I discovered this hidden gem. The restaurant is small and cozy, resembling a cafe with only a few tables, often filled with Chinese customers. I highly recommend trying the boiled beef in hot chili oil, as it tasted just like the real thing I had in China. The menu also offers Western favorites like kung pao chicken, but the real highlights are the authentic Szechuan dishes. Just be warned, the food can be extremely spicy! Unfamiliar with the Cannington area, we arrived at a semi-industrial/commercial estate as the sun was setting. Most businesses were closed for the day, but we found a small restaurant bustling with people at the end of the lot. The kung pao chicken was exceptional and comparable to that of Dainty Sichuan in Melbourne. We couldn't finish our meal, so we asked for takeaway containers. The staff kindly wrapped them in glad wrap to prevent any spillage on our way home. We are excited to visit the Karawara and Victoria Park locations in the future.
