Appearances can be deceptive. You could walk past this place and just think it's a small, non-description bar. On a quiet Wednesday night in November, the only sign of life on the whole of Roonstraße appeared to be the smokers outside the small front of...Hellers brauhaus. Upon entering, the place was pretty much full and absolutely packed with locals of all ages who were enjoying the Hellers beers and the traditional German food. We were seated in a fully enclosed side extension to the main building and soon got to grips with a few different beers and some hearty grub, in the form of a great pork schnitzel with a pepper and cognac sauce, whilst one of my compadres had a three steak dish of...
absolutely great brewhouse near the university, so always packed great eating, great selection of big beers, personal attention and friendly, they will enjoy their time there, I am quite sure. if it is not too busy, they ask the bar tender about the art of brewing the various. they serve. I am not too hungry, share a carving (they are not small), or have a few beers first, you will then be hungry enough!
Note for Tripadvisor, this place does NOT serve Ethiopian food. But some really good German food! The atmosphere was great, the beer was really good and the food was delicious and well portioned. This was great for a quick dinner with some really good...service. Sadly they only take cash payments, so this is definitely something to take into account before dining here.
Enjoyed an evening at this place. The food was good and as I don't enjoy Kolsch that much it was nice to have a range to chose from. The staff were friendly and the food came out quickly. I ordered a Schitzel as I hadn't...had one for a while. Chose the pepper and cognac sauce which was really nice and a good burn.
