Been coming here for around 18 years now and then when in the area. The last few times I've been in, the fish has been too greasy and soggy (think batter that easily slides off). I've given it another chance and yet again, the greasy fish played havoc with my stomach. The chips were mostly smaller ends with few whole chips, so to speak, so it missed marks there. I think that there are actually better options nearby now, especially a short drive away in Morecambe.
Travelled here from Blackpool to see what all the fuss was about 'award winning ' and we certainly weren 't disappointed...the fish was cooked to perfection, lovely chips (smaller portion of chips than expected) but that 's just eyes bigger than belly. Very reasonably priced, parking outside. Staff were lovely and friendly. So was it worth the 50 minute drive? Absolutely!!! And we will definitely go again!!
THE. BEST. CHIPPY. ON. EARTH Seriously though it absolutely 100% is the best chippy we’ve found in the North West. We regularly travel from Blackpool area just to get chippy tea from here. It’s consistently brilliant! Fish batter perfect and crispy and chips that are just amazing. Not sure what they do to them that makes them so crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside but they are next level.
I don't know how Hodgson's consistently delivers such high-quality food, but we are never let down. The staff is exceptional, especially during busy times, and they always go above and beyond. I recently dined at Hodgson's, a well-known award-winning chip shop. It offers a perfect blend of traditional and modern features. The fish and chips were the best I've had in a while, leaving my family and I completely satisfied. The staff are incredibly polite and helpful, going above and beyond to assist with any requests.
I would advise against dining at this fish and chip restaurant. I ordered food and discovered worms in the battered fish. It was absolutely repulsive. I don't understand how this establishment remains open.
