I visited Hoja Santa on a hot August night and noticed there was no air conditioning inside, plus there was an unpleasant smell upon entering. The service, however, was excellent—the waiter was very attentive. Prices were reasonable; with two entrees, an appetizer, and two drinks, my bill came to $90 including tip. The shrimp tacos were fantastic, but the enchiladas were overly salty—I even had trouble sleeping afterward. Despite the saltiness, I kept eating because I was so hungry. Overall, I believe there are better spots in Astoria where you can spend $90 and enjoy better food with air conditioning.

I really liked the atmosphere and the location of the restaurant, but I found the seasoning to be lacking. I felt that my guacamole needed salt and pepper, and my tacos needed a lot of hot sauce to add flavor. I ordered a mango agua fresca, which was good, but I was hoping for a stronger mango flavor. I expected good quality food at a reasonable price in Queens, but ended up paying $50 without alcohol. I was a bit disappointed by the overall experience and felt that the dishes could have been more flavorful. This restaurant may not be the best fit for me.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. I had some amazing tacos. The caramelized onions with the jalapeños and guacamole made them very well balanced. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself was clean and modern, with a great atmosphere.I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service
Just had a great dinner here. We ordered the ceviche mixto, elote, robalo costeno (seabass) and the carne tampiquena- all were incredible with the ceviche and tampiquena being our favorites. The margaritas and agua frescos are also great. Service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back. Book a table now
Came here on a Saturday. Not your typical brunch place but you'll be surprised how good the food is. It's traditional Mexican fare prepared by a chef from Tulum (allegedly). Their Bellinis are quite good thanks to the peach liqueur they use instead of juice. Service was excellent.
I'm not a fan of fish and this place has more fish-based dishes than anything else. Had the skirt steak, it was a bit small and overcooked. Avocado sauce tasted great though. The skirt steak was one of 2 meat based dishes on the menu, not sure if the menu is seasonal or not.
The food was tasty, innovative modern Mexican. However, the waiter forgot to put in half of our order and made a mistake with our drinks. The cocktails barely had any liquor in them, a bit expensive for a $15+ drink
Came here on a whim with my wife. Easily became one of my favorite Mexican spots. The food, the service, the atmosphere… everything was excellent that day. Do not hesitate to go in. Book a table now
Visited during restaurant week and ordered the bass. Both the food and service were excellent. Be sure to try their tamarind margarita—it's spicy but delicious!
This restaurant is amazing! I absolutely love the guacamole with crab and carne asada.

"Years ago I went and it was still a business in progress, walking around Times Square and promoting their food. After years, I went for the first time to the place and the food was so delicious overall. Congratulations!"
