Been eating Holts for years and it’s high time I write a review. First, the cake donuts. The consistence of these is always great – soft, but with enough firmness for a good mouthfeel, and the frosting is light and fluffy. I like that you can see little flecks of fruit in the frosting for the donuts that are cherry and blueberry frosted. The glazed donuts have a pillowy texture and an airiness with a very slight chew, not quite melt-in-your-mouth but close. I actually prefer it this way, it makes it feel more substantial. The best doughnuts in KC. Lived a block away for 20 years. Never once was I let down by the Doughnuts or the service. The consistent quality over so many years is astounding. Live 20 minutes away now and still drive there on occasion because nothing close to me comes close to Holtz.
